Artist Statement

Working with textiles has sparked a deep well of creative energy. My work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with color that predates my artistic practice. Abstraction fascinates me because it opens a field of possibility—where anything can become anything, giving viewers the freedom to invent their own stories.

I create large-scale improvisational abstract works composed of layered fabric and stitch, constructed like quilts yet presented as paintings. Working intuitively, I cut, layer and stitch fabric into evolving forms, allowing the dialogue between color and structure to unfold in the studio.

Why Modern Stitch Witch?

A strong feminist perspective—shaped by personal experiences navigating an unequal world for women, informs my work and guides my commitment to elevating textile traditions within contemporary art.

For me, the witch is a powerful feminist symbol, embodying wisdom, knowledge, resilience, and fearlessness - qualities I deeply admire and strive to cultivate through my creative practice.
