Artist Statement

Working with textiles has ignited a deep creative energy within me. My work is rooted in a lifelong love of color that precedes my work as an artist. I’m drawn to its graphic power and the dynamic relationships between hues, values and saturation. Abstract art captivates me because it invites boundless interpretation; it allows anything to be anything, and gives the viewer space to invent their own story.

For me, creating is an intuitive, emotional process—one that words often fail to capture. I cut fabric, sew it back together, and through intricate piecing, I shape compositions that emerge from imagination rather than representation. My work is large-scale, abstract, and layered and stitched like a quilt, yet displayed on the wall like a painting.

Why Modern Stitch Witch?

I’m rooted in a strong feminist ideology that stems from personal experiences in an unequal world for women, and I hope to inspire other women to express themselves and take agency through their own creative work. For me the witch personifies a strong feminist symbol that embodies power, wisdom, knowledge, and fearlessness; all qualities I admire, and aspire to further develop in this journey called life.
